Why central banks are in a hurry to introduce analogues of cryptocurrency"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>CBCD is another abbreviation of the modern world that is worth learning.<\/p>\n<p>Looking at the surge in the popularity of cryptocurrency in the world and realizing that bans alone can not stop it, even despite the obvious connection with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/why-crime-could-kill-crypto-11624008655\">illegal transactions<\/a>, central banks and governments around the world began to develop their own analogs of digital currencies.<\/p>\n<p>CBCD, or central bank digital currency \u2014 digital currencies of central banks, which are introduced as alternatives to cryptocurrencies. The CBCD is essentially digital cash, the <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.imf.org\/2021\/07\/29\/making-the-digital-money-revolution-work-for-all\/\">International Monetary Fund<\/a> explains, but not as anonymous as a crypt so as not to become the &#8220;official currency&#8221; of the criminal world.<\/p>\n<p>According to the authoritative American think tank <a href=\"https:\/\/www.atlanticcouncil.org\/cbdctracker\/\">Atlantic Council<\/a>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>81 countries around the world are already researching or directly implementing digital currencies;<\/li>\n<li>5 countries have launched their own digital currency: the Bahamian dollar became the first widely available CBDC;<\/li>\n<li>14 other countries, including major economies such as Sweden and South Korea, are implementing pilot projects or preparing for the full launch of the CBDC;<\/li>\n<li>The US is estimated to lag far behind: the EU, Japan, and Britain have made more progress with their digital currencies;<\/li>\n<li>China is moving even faster, planning to introduce the digital yuan this winter at the Beijing Olympics and allow foreigners to use it.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>E-hryvnia<\/h3>\n<p>Ukraine was one of the first in the world, back in 2016, to seriously consider the introduction of a digital currency. In 2018, the National Bank implemented a closed pilot project, issuing e-hryvnia based on blockchain technology for retail payments. The electronic hryvnia was tested by the bank&#8217;s employees and the pilot companies.<\/p>\n<p>This year, the Verkhovna Rada adopted the Law on Payment Services, which gives the green light for the issuance of digital money by the National Bank of Ukraine.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>CBCD is another abbreviation of the modern world that is worth learning.
